Train Ride

Carole brought Cy, Sarah, Destiny and Xander to Glenwood for a train ride. They really had a nice time. Plus it was great to spend some time visiting with them. I can just about bet that Xander had the best time. He loved the big train and the miniature train in the depot. What a good Grandma Carole!

A WONDERFUL MOTHER

GOD made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He molded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks, fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

My Sisters

"There can be no situation in life in which the conversation of my dear sisters will not administer some comfort to me." I love you both!

Cinnamon and Bluegrass

We went to a really great bluegrass concert in Paonia. It was broadcast on public radio. We brought Cinnamon and she loved it as much as we did!

Chief Ouray and Chipeta

They had a Ute Celebration in Montrose last weekend. They served buffalo meat and had a few dancers, an auction and lots of pretty things to buy. There was a man that had two beautiful mustangs (one with blue eyes) - he said he's been hunting buffalo for 8 years, also that the mustangs can track them. Interesting... didn't know people still did that? I guess they do.

"Cement Here Forever Ping Pong Table"

Philip was determined to build this table and it is quite amazing. This ping pong table has 6 cement leg post and a solid cement top. They were in the process of painting it today.

Ridgway and Ouray

We spent the day in Ridgway and Ouray. Ridgway is between Montrose and Ouray. The town boasts the fact that True Grit was filmed there. The park in the center of town is where they filmed the hanging scene. John Wayne loved the area with good reason - The San Juan Mountains are amazing. If you remember Dennis Weaver - he also made his home there. He passed away about 4 years ago. A couple of his grandsons worked at the True Grit Cafe.

In Ouray we went to a box canyon that had an amazing waterfall - that was pretty strong for the end of summer. It was a little creepy to me - climbing down into the canyon. Surrounded by to many rocks. I am glad I did get to see it and glad I got out!

Philips!

It is always fun at Philips. He has pigs and cows and calves. Plus just a beautiful ranch. Thank you Philip for having us.

Cinder

This is Dion and Dixie dog. She wasn't as welcoming to our critters. But good to us humans.

Dion and Dixie

Such a sweet couple. Very welcoming and good to our doggies. Thank you.

Hotchkiss

Hotchkiss is the best little farming community ever! Well, I love it. We took our RV over for a few days. Stayed one night with our friend Philip and one night with our friends Dion and Dixie. It is a quiet place that feels peaceful when I'm there.
