Doin' Stuff!

Larry and I spent a few nice days in San Diego. I really enjoyed Old Town - where we had wonderful Mexican food. Our restaurant had a woman making homemade tortillas. They were wonderful.

We also spent a day at the San Diego Zoo. The highlight there was a 7 day old giraffe and a panda. Both were great to see!

Ocean...

One of my favorite songs... I have thought of so much lately. Not happy about going back to Colorado.
Note... the boys jumping off the pier were in lifeguard training.

I think I'll go down to the ocean
I think I'll go down and lie by the sea
Sit alone and watch the waves break
I don't think I'm ever going to leave
To leave, to leave

Find a girl that looks like an angel
Take her home just to be by her side
The kind of girl you'd love to marry
Someday to be your brand new bride
Your brand new bride

I think I'll go down to the ocean
I think I'll go down and lie by the sea
Sit alone and watch the waves break
I don't think I'm ever going to leave
to leave, to leave, to leave, to leave
to leave, to leave, to leave, to leave

Well I know I've got this mission
Things to do and things to say, every day
And if you give your heart permission
I know you'd feel the same old way
The same same way

I think I'll go down to the ocean
I think I'll go down and lie by the sea
Sit alone and watch the sun set
I don't think I'm ever going to leave
to leave, to leave, to leave, to leave
She'll be waiting by the shore
And I will be, I don't wanna be alone anymore

I think I'll go down to the ocean

Friends in San Diego

Larry and I were blessed to be married by 3 Pastors. Pastor Eddie, Pastor Thom and Pastor Joel. Pastor Joel and his wife Fran have since moved to Santee, CA. We were able to see them on our travels here to California. They lived here years ago - Pastoring a church. We enjoyed our time with them so much spending the day at the Hotel Del Coronado. Thank you Joel and Fran for a wonderful time.

Also on our trip to San Diego we saw an old friend of Larry's - Britt Coupons. We had a nice lunch with him and for me it was a pleasure to meet him.

Carlsbad, CA

It has been a few days since I put up a post, however it has taken us a few days to re-group after losing our little Duke. So here goes back on the vacation trail!

I fell in love with Carlsbad. Our campsite was right on the ocean. The RV sat up on a cliff and it was wonderful. I enjoyed the ocean where we saw dolphins taking a morning swim. We also saw a shark! Thankfully the water was to cold to get in ... right? The downtown is quaint with nice shops and restaurants. It would be a nice place to be for a while.

Carlsbad State Park does not allow dogs down on their beach. So we took a drive south a couple miles to Del Mar Beach. They were dog friendly - which is always needed for us. I raised Zuzu mainly in Florida so she is right at home in the salty surf. She was a happy doggy. We were happy people!

My Duke, My Little Boy

We adopted Duke just over a year ago. He was owned by a friend of ours, Ricky. He was moving and could no longer keep him - so we volunteered. Duke was somewhere around 15 when we got him. He was a Jack Russel mix. Two years before he came to us he had been bit on the back end by a coyote. Which left him paralyzed. He could walk, a bit awkward but he got around. In just the last couple months he stopped walking all together. He totally depended on me to get him to the bathroom, to his food and water dish and ultimately to bed every night. He was always so sweet to snuggle with me. Especially if I'd been gone on a trip or even away all day. He'd snuggle into me... so happy I'd returned. This last week Duke got tired. He has slowly been helping me to let him go. Yesterday at 2:46 we had him put to sleep. It certainly was one of the hardest things I've had to do and it was equally as hard on Larry. We will have him cremated and given back to the friend we adopted him from. Ricky's parents ashes are scattered high in the mountains of Colorado. Duke belongs there as well. I miss that little boy and I'm so grateful he took to loving me.
Bye Duke - your a good boy.
